A Fantastic Weekend in Beautiful Stockholm

Scandinavia has always been somewhere we have wanted to explore more but to be honest, having visited Copenhagen and Riga in the height of winter, I’ve discovered I’m not a huge fan of city breaks in the freezing cold. Stockholm seemed like the perfect place to explore when we were looking for somewhere to go in autumn, still cold (but definitely bearable) and you get the added bonus of those gorgeous autumn colours; golds, oranges and yellows setting the town ablaze.

The Ultimate Family Holiday in Beautiful Bucharest

We had wanted to visit Bucharest for a while after reading about the city online and decided the summer would be the perfect time to go. Bucharest, and Romania in general, don’t seem to be at the top of many people’s travel lists, with some people thinking we were pronouncing Budapest wrong when we told them where we were going! This trip was slightly different for us because we travelled with family who have young children - another first for us! It was really fun seeing a city through the eyes of the kids and actually made us realise how easy travelling with children can be.

    A Weekend in Amsterdam

When you think of Amsterdam, what comes to mind? For us it’s canals, tulips, clogs, the red light district and cheese. If you’ve seen any pictures of Amsterdam you also know how beautiful it is and it really didn’t disappoint. Considering how quick and easy it is to get from London to Amsterdam it’s crazy to think that neither of us had ever been before! Our flight out was on Saturday afternoon and we had booked a flight and hotel package. We had originally planned to find an Airbnb in the centre of Amsterdam but we stumbled across an amazing looking Inntel hotel online. This hotel was not quite in…

    Easter Markets in Vienna

From Mozart to Freud, Vienna is steeped in culture and history. We decided it was time to discover it for ourselves and so we booked a long weekend trip for our anniversary in March 2016. Did you know some European cities do Easter markets? Similar to their Christmas counterparts, Easter markets sell decorated eggs, delicious food and drink as well as the usual gifts and trinkets found at a traditional Christmas market. Our anniversary falls around Easter time which makes it perfectly timed for a European Easter market city break.

    Christmas Markets in Barcelona

Barcelona’s Christmas markets are a completely different experience to their German counterparts. Read on to find out what we got up to and why you must visit the Catalan capital to see it for yourself. Anniversary Surprises! This year both of our parents celebrated their 30th wedding anniversaries. We decided we would treat them to a city break as their gift, giving them the opportunity to celebrate together and enjoy each other’s company. We sent my parents for a long weekend in Prague which they thoroughly enjoyed. When we were looking for destinations for Alex’s parents, his mum suggested that we join them on the trip so we thought why…

    Christmas Markets in Zurich

When it comes to Christmas markets, Europe is definitely the place to be. There are so many cities which turn into winter wonderlands around December. We wanted to explore some more cities at this time of year so started looking around for potential Christmas market city breaks. Having never been to Switzerland before, we could tick off another country whilst enjoying the magic of Christmas abroad. Our trip was only a short visit, arriving on Saturday evening and leaving again on Monday evening meaning we had to fit in as much festive fun as possible in a short amount of time. When we arrived, we made our way to our…

    Exploring Beautiful Budapest

Presents or Holidays? We don’t ever buy each other presents. Not for our birthdays, Christmas or anniversaries. Some people think this is slightly odd but we prefer putting the money that we would have spent on gifts aside to do something which creates memories, usually a holiday. So for our first wedding anniversary in August 2017 we decided to take an extended city break to Budapest (country number 22 for me). We booked ourselves into an Airbnb which was a first for us as we’ve never stayed in one just the two of us before. The place was amazing and right in the middle of town allowing us to do…

    Chillin’ in Copenhagen

We visited Copenhagen in February so naturally it was very cold. This was my first time going on holiday to a cold destination. We don’t tend to go away in the winter but we managed to get flights for an absolute bargain. It also helped that we were able to use the money collected in our special globe money box which we use to save for city breaks! We arrived in Copenhagen quite late so we made our way to the hotel to find somewhere for a spot of dinner and to explore the local area. The hotel we stayed in was called Hotel Kong Arthur which is located right…
